Laura is originally from Mexico and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She’s a Senior Software Engineer with over 7+ years experience focussed on developing experiences, maintaining software and implementing responsive designs primarily across mobile and web.
Before joining Aster, Laura spent several years supporting Applied Cognition, a health technology company focussed on reversing the progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. One of the first of their kind to do this work non-invasively and via continuous measurement. During this role, Laura had experience working in both software and hardware for the medical industry.
Laura is trilingual, speaking; Spanish, English and Japanese. She recently spent two years living in Japan and working in software for the automobile industry. As well as this, Laura has a broad range of additional experiences ranging from wellness, to hospitality and developing software for consumer and B2B companies.
Laura’s interest in engineering started in college. She gained her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes. It was here where she had first hand experience of the hardware and software utilized in the hospital setting across Mexico. She also holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and Quality Assurance of Software Development from the Universidad Panamerica.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys dancing, reading and baking.
