Dr. Lailah earned her MBBS medical degree with Distinction from Barts and the London Medical School, as well as an additional Bachelor's degree in Global Public Health.
She has worked as a Hospital Doctor in the NHS, gaining experience across medical and surgical specialties such as Breast Surgery, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Over the last 4 years, she has specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology, working in varied district hospitals around London and Kent.
Dr. Lailah has a particular interest in healthcare disparities among people of color and disadvantaged population groups. With a special interest in Women’s Health, she has published research in an international medical journal in conjunction with the World Health Organization. Her research includes evaluating the efficacy of point-of-care testing for antenatal syphilis in resource-poor settings, with the aim of improving access and equity in antenatal care. In addition she has published a study on community understandings of investigations following pregnancy loss and stillbirth with the aim of increasing uptake of testing and therefore reducing rates of stillbirth amongst populations who are disproportionately affected.
Dr. Lailah has two children who share the same energy and joy for life as she does; she is well versed in everything related to Spider-Man as a result.
